Originating in California, the fabulous Hennessey's Tavern is now here in Las Vegas to grace Downtown. It usually places its locations square in the path of young, affluent bar hoppers, and if you head in on a weekend, expect a lot of beautiful people tilting back Guinness and Bushmills. Their timing is impeccable, as the revamping of Downtown LV targets a similar crowd. This one is definitely in the right place at the right time offering up the great food and atmospheres as the ones before it.
Though it's a semi-chain, the bars escape a cookie cutter feeling for the most part. It's an Irish tavern, through and through, but with some West Coast touches like a pop music soundtrack and karaoke night, which can get pretty fun to watch after the singers have had a few black and tans. If you're in for some munchies, there are some thick sandwiches and burgers, traditional corned beef and cabbage or "Irish nachos" -- sliced potato covered in cheese and sour cream. Check in for weekly drink specials accompanying dinner. And, don't forget the famous First Friday when you can enjoy great food and prizes.

A passion for hot rods spurred the creation of Hot Rod Grille, the popular restaurant-bar at 1231 American Pacific Drive in Henderson. Owners Randy Donald and Paul Wells designed the car-themed venue to fit in with their Hot Rod Hill auto plaza, and the Grille's decor reflects their interests: a 1932 Deuce Coupe and 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air are suspended above the bar, replicas from the film "American Graffiti." There's also a mural on the back wall of the bar, painted by Kenny Youngblood, featuring a scene from the movie. In a corner of the dining room, a candy-apple red 1962 Cadillac convertible stands on end with a large-screen TV set in it. Cad-Kong, an 18-feet-tall combination merchandise display and waitress stand at the center of the restaurant, is designed after a 1959 Cadillac. The restaurant also offers patio dining and a banquet-party room on the second floor. The upstairs area has a feel of a huge game room, and it's decked out with billiards, video games, ample seating for your gathering and more. It's the perfect venue for a holiday party, celebration or just a get-together with friends. The menu consists of a large variety of selections. The nitro burger and Iowa Pork Tenderloin are staples in the menu; plus there are sandwiches, wraps, pastas and numerous pizzas. The restaurant opens at seven for breakfast and has a children's menu as well. Food is available 24 hours a day in the bar.
