Great food, Great Ambiance and the people are very friendly. They just moved to a larger location inn the same plaza, yet they kept the cozy feeling. I went to the previous location numerous times and I've even picked up dinner for carry put. I have not ever used their catering service, but if it's anything like their normal service it must be great. On Friday and Saturday they have Belly Dancing (WOW) and the server mentioned other types of entertainment in the future. You can get in, have lunch in a timely manner, or if you want to sit and have a nice evening meal and not feel ruches this is the place. You always have to ask for your bill because the table is yours until you decide to leave. It has a very European feel, as to how things are done. I got in a conversation with a group of 6 who had driven from Glendale and they said that they make the trip often. I'm glad I live in Mesa, I can go anytime. I've been to other Middle Eastern places, but none top this. Their Chicken Shawarma dinner was the bets ever. I love the Gyro Pita Sandwich too. I highly recommend this place!

Omega Gyros
Greek, Middle Eastern

We are located in the Theatre District at Mesa Riverview Mall. A gyro is a wonderful Greek creation. The best versions are the mixtures of ground beef and lamb that is seasoned with Greek Spices, then pressed together and slowly cooked on revolving spits. The spits allow the fat to drain off, and as the meat turns and cooks slowly, it develops a highly prized cooked crust which expert gyro makers slice off with a long knife. Once the slices are ready, they're piled into a warmed pita and topped with onions, tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce. Tzatziki is a Greek sauce made from yogurt and fresh cucumbers - at Omega Gyros, the tzatziki is fresh and homemade.

Khalil Al-Abbadi is the man who converted the 5 & Diner into Flaming Kabob Cuisine to serve his native Middle-Eastern and Mediterranean fare. Born in Jordan, Al-Abbadi moved from Southfield, Mich., to Arizona "because of the climate," and is awaiting the arrival of his wife and remaining six children - the eldest son moved here first - who can help in the family business. The restaurant opened six months ago and has had a steady stream of the curious and kebab aficionados alike. Al-Abbadi reports that 60 percent of his patrons are Americans, while 40 percent are Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian clients who hanker for a shish kabob. Using his more than 20-years of experience in the restaurant business, Al-Abbadi has drawn up an extensive menu with plenty of options to those who would like to bite into some marinated meat. The platters are plentiful and cost is not exorbitant. Shawarmas - marinated and slow-cooked chicken or beef served in a pita with onions, tomatoes and a sauce - are an alternative to a hamburger or a sandwich, although the restaurant serves burgers as well. Kebabs are made with shrimp, lamb, beef or chicken. Al-Abbadi's signature dish is lamb chops, grilled with seasonings. Mediterranean staples include hummus, fattoush, tabbouleh and stuffed grape leaves. All entrees are served with rice or French fries, and soup (including the spicy lentil soup), or house salad. The restaurateur takes catering orders for 10 to 500 people. But a visit with a couple of friends for a puff on a hookah, some Arabic music in the background and a cup of spicy lentil soup has its own rewards.
