The Mill Street Grille was formerly the staple of the elegant Walden Hotel, built in 1927. In the 1950s, the lower half was rented out to business tenants such as the Secretary of State and the basement housed the District Court holding cells that are still intact today. In 1958, Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. held meetings upstairs with other civil rights activists. A fire in the early 1970s destroyed the front half of the hotel, which faced Pike Street and is now the parking lot for those visiting the Mill Street Grille. With its rich red-colored walls and cherry wood, the bar pays tribute to the past while looking forward to a renewed life in booming downtown Pontiac. We can be your local neighborhood bar and grill and much more. The full-service menu offers a variety of appetizers, soups and salads, sandwiches, pastas, and ribs! Also serving Great Lunches at reasonable prices! The bar is stocked with many fine domestic and imported types of liquor, and an extensive beer list with over 30 choices including specialty beers like Motor City Nut Brown Ale. Great people, splendid food, generous drinks, and hot bands. It is a fun, spirited, clean-cut bar and grill with old music and new tunes. Something is always going on to keep you entertained, whether it is Monday Night Wing special, Karaoke Wednesdays & Fridays, or Live Music on the weekends. A great place to see Jazz, Blues, Rock and Techno Soul. Feel comfortable in a suit or jeans and a t-shirt. Get there early for a table, Mill Street packs them in! The Mill Street Staff loves to throw a party, and just like Free Press voted Mill Street is the Best Hidden Hangout for your next celebration!
