In 1976 Between 3rd and 4th on Yamhill the Papas brothers opened the Downtown Deli. Over the years, the 2 brothers expanded the Downtown Deli on 5th Avenue as well as on Metro on Broadway where Columbia Sports Square is housed today. As time went on and we continued to expand, we found ourselves in our existing Greek Cusina location.
Now, due to popular demand, we present to you our new Downtown Deli. Bigger, Better, Tastier! We invite you to sample our menu of delicious health conscience food created with fresh ingredients & savory spices. Your ultimate indulgence without the guilt.

The Greek Cusina has become a Portland landmark with great food and a casual, fun atmosphere. Greek Cusina serves breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. The Greek is not your typical restaurant, and offers a super-charged, energetic atmosphere that everyone enjoys. In 1974, two brothers, Ted and John Papas, came to Portland and took over the Downtown Deli on Yamhill.
In those days you could get a Mad Greek Sandwich for only $.75. Years later the Deli moved from the Yamhill location to the corner of Fifth and Washington where the owners decided to introduce some of the Greek dishes that appear on our menu today. After great success at this location the brothers decided to move the deli to the current location on the corner of 4th and Washington where it has evolved into a popular destination.
Once the Downtown Deli moved into its new location the brothers decided to focus on Greek dishes and provide service for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Having more space, the brothers could now put a Taverna on the second floor, which became the new home to our house band Papas and Friends.

At Aladdn's Caf we pride ourselves on serving the most delicious menu of natural and healthy Mediterranean cuisine in Portland.
No preservatives of any kind are used in the making of our dishes, only fresh vegetables and meats. Our table sweetener is turbinado sugar, a natural, unprocessed sugarcane product that it is made by steaming unrefined raw sugar. We use only extra virgin olive oil in our dressings and sauting and sea salt in our food preparation and table salt.
