Prime Steakhouse is the newest addition to the collection of restaurants in the charming village of Ogunquit, Maine. The restaurant is located near the entrance of Perkins Cove and is a pleasant walk from the beach and the Main Street shops. The trolley also conveniently stops close by. The newly renovated restaurant has an urban style dining room complete with a well designed bar area, which is conducive to having a cocktail or a full five course meal. For more than three decades, Merlino's Steakhouse has been a familiar sight to locals and vacationers alike. Starting out in the early Forties as a gas station, the business later changed to a restaurant with the opening of "Old King Cole's," a classic burger and ice cream drive-in. In 1967, my mother and father, Audrey and Dick Luciano, became the new owners. We had little knowledge of the restaurant business but a healthy workforce of eight children. With the help of a few good recipes from Aunt Flo Zeoli, we soon had a prosperous family business that even today remains an independently owned and family operated restaurant. Our mascot cow, which tops our exterior sign, has become a popular landmark in Mt. Washington Valley. In 1978, I took over management of the restaurant. Since that time, my wife and I have added a cozy lounge and moonlit greenhouse dining area. Our second story function room has become a popular meeting place for groups and events. And our location, in the center of dozens of factory outlets, has made us one of the most popular lunch spots in town.
