Situated in a leafy backwater in kensington, Launceston Place opened its door in March 1986. Victorian oil paintings and prints, large ornate mirrors, carpets, comfortable chairs, the odd antiquity, lots of flowers 'like a drawing room in an English country house' was how one food writer described it.
Launceston Place adheres to the same aim and principles it established when first starting out: the customer should enjoy delicious food, good efficient, if understated, service in calm, attractive and comfortable surroundings. Seventeen years on 'the proof of the pudding...'.
