On the grounds of Geneva National Golf Club is the Hunt Club Lodge, originally part of the historic summer estate of plumbing industrialist R.T. Crane. The Hunt Club building was restored in 1990 and now houses a gracious restaurant that offers a full-service menu of American cuisine. We're known for our steaks, chops, seafood and wild game. The Hunt Club serves dinner Wednesday - Saturday beginning at 5pm. Bar service begins at 4pm Wednesday - Saturday with Happy Hour specials from 4-6pm including 1/2 price small plates and 2 for 1 drinks. The Hunt Club is entirely smoke-free. The Hunt Club also has private space available for group dinners and social parties of up to 100 guests. The Audubon Inn acquires its name from the French-American ornithologist, John James Audubon, who is noted for over 400 remarkable, scientifically accurate, bird paintings. The Horicon Marsh, just west of the city of Mayville, is one of America's top natural tourist attractions. Originally operated as The Beaumont Hotel, Anna & Jacob Mueller constructed it in 1896. Jacob was the editor of the Dodge County Pioneer, one of the important German language newspapers for southeastern Wisconsin. The weekly newspaper continues to operate today as The Mayville News. The Beaumont Hotel became a showplace of the area offering 30 hotel rooms, a confectionary shop, barber shop, several taverns, bakery and restaurant. A horse drawn jitney bus provided passengers services from Mayville train station to the hotel. The hotel lobby was popular with large leather chairs and rocking chairs set along the windows. People would gather to play checkers and cards, and tell stories. Many people made their home at the Beaumont.<BR>The hotel was extensively renovated in 1990, including the return of the handsome turret on the exterior and declared a National Historic Landmark and one of the oldest Inns in the state. The Inn now has 16 guestrooms, appointed in Old English Country style. Stacy and Mike Shewey, experienced hoteliers, purchase the Audubon Inn in June 2008. They plan to continue renovation on the Inn while keeping the Victorian look and feel in mind. Along with their 3 children, the Sheweys have found the Mayville area and residents interesting and friendly. Although they haven't relocated to the area, you'll find Mike or Stacy walking around the lobby and Pub/Restaurant areas most often. If you are having dinner or a drink in the Pub, don't be surprised if one of them stops by to say hello and ask how things are going.
