Bombay Garden
Indian, Vegetarian
5955 Mowry Ave, Newark, CA, 94560
In Gracious Tribute Bombay Garden takes a page from the culinary extravaganzas of the 'Grand Moguls' and brings the past to life, in the ambience and hospitality representative of those golden times, when every meal was a feast and every feast a gourmet delight. On the culinary level, it was the East which conquered the West, brining along both South and North to raise Curry to Universal Popularity. It is a false notion that all Indian food is just "hot". All spices and herbs are used, not just for flavor and aroma, but for their digestive and nutritional values. Chilies are rich in Vitamin C, Methi revitalizes the liver. Ginger and Peppercorns aid digestion. Mint is refreshing while Coriander is good for the kidneys. Good wholesome food and good health are closely linked. At Bombay Garden, we use only the finest ingredients to prepare dishes that are as nutritious as they are delicious. We invite you to new adventures in taste, with a welcome that comes from deep within the heart! Our guests are our family! -Bombay Garden

Salang Pass
Afghani, Vegetarian
37462 Fremont Blvd, Fremont, CA, 94536
Salang Pass Restaurant, a Fremont oasis of tranquility and beauty, offers the best Afghanistan has to offer the palate. Owner, Wahid Andesha offers "real Afghan food" using fresh ingredients and offering something for all tastes. Vegetarians are comfortable with favorites such as Bolani - handmade dough shells filled with your choice of leeks or potatoes and spices baked on a flat pan served with homemade yogurt and special sauces. Ashak, Afghan ravioli, can be served with or without meat and Borani Kadoo is a treat not to be missed. This pumpkin dish is a new and welcome experience for those unfamiliar with Afghan food. Diners can also try Bodinjan Borani, an eggplant dish served with yogurt and Afghan bread. The aushak is to die for (kind of like spinach stuffed ravioli with a light and tasty yogurt sauce) and the kebabs delicious, tasty and juicy. The Afghan rice is better than any Asian variety. The service is good and the prices are very reasonable. Reservations are a good idea especially if you want to lounge on the floor cushions under the indoor awning.
