Pulcinella represents Napoli and the Napolitan spirit of life. He is known best for his costume of white and his simple black mask. The legend goes that Pulcinella avoided work and trouble through his disguise. While working in the pizzeria, Pulcinella was often more of an entertainer than a worker. He would dance around and play. But when the ax fell, Pulcinella would hide himself in the flour bin, escaping the troubles of life in a child-like manner. For this reason Pulcinella is a true representative of the child within us all.

In 1954, Amedeo "Dick" DeAngelis traveled from Reading, PA to Raleigh, NC to attend NC State University on a football scholarship. He quickly missed his mother's and grandmother's homemade recipes that they brought with them straight from Italy. After he finished college, he decided to open a restaurant to share the incredible meals that he enjoyed growing up. In 1963, Amedeo's opened on Western Boulevard.<br>For the past 25 years, his son Rick has helped establish and grow the well-known restaurant that now seats 220 customers. Through his hard work, dedication and loyalty to his customer base, Rick and his wife Lisa continue the tradition by bringing the same great dishes and family-oriented, local-feel to North Raleigh.<br>Amedeo's North combines genuine Italian dishes and great customer service to make your next dining experience one to remember. Raleigh, NC is a long way from Reading, PA, yet Amedeo "Dick" DeAngelis made the trek to play football for the mighty NC State Wolfpack in 1954. Playing on a scholarship, he was a long way from home and he greatly missed "home cooking". The idea of opening a small Italian restaurant seemed the most effective way to alleviate the longing. He utilized homemade recipes from his mother and grandmother and in 1963, a 12-seat restaurant opened on Western Boulevard in Raleigh. Since that time Dick, along with his mother, wife Betty, children, and grandchildren and many loyal employees have expanded "Amedeo's" into a premier eating establishment with a seating capacity now of over 200!
