Chutney Masala Indian Cuisine
Indian
4 W. Main St., Irvington, NY, 10533
|
|
During the British Raj Era, the English fell in love with Indian Cuisine and our name is derived from two of its most important ingredients. "Chutney;" an anglicized for of the Hindi word "chatni," is a traditional condiment made from a combination of fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices. All of our chutneys are homemade. "Masala" means a blend of fresh herbs and spices, combined with aromatics to bring out the complex flavors of Indian food. We grind our spices in house to make our own special blends. Great food begins with the finest quality ingredients and we use only the most wholesome in our preparations and no artificial flavorings or additives. Our natural, free range meats contain no antibiotics or hormones, our seafood is wild, not farm raised, and our locally-derived produce is garden-fresh.

Patang
Halal, Indian
2223 Central Park Avenue, Yonkers, NY, 10710
|

The first word that comes to mind when one thinks of Indian Cuisine is "Spicy" and right you would be. Indian cuisine uses a cornucopia of spices to create a mouth-watering range of foods. Not all Indian foods are spicy "hot", but all are generously spiced to give food a distinct full-bodied taste.India is a tapestry of many cultures, colors and of course, foods. Each region has its own specialty! In the north, Punjabi, Kashmiri and Mughlai cuisine reflect a strong Central-Asian influence with a variety of rich foods. In the east, Bengali and Assamese cuisine have influenced those of East Asia. Coastal kitchens make extensive use of sea-food and coconuts. The desert cuisines of Rajasthan and Gujarat use a wide variety of lentils and preserves. The use of tamarind gives a tarty sourness that distinguishes Tamil food in Southern India. And to the south-east of India, the Andhra kitchen is accused, perhaps unfairly, of using excessive amounts of chilies! We want you to enjoy the variety of food offered at Patang, and hope that your dining experience will be a memorable one. With a repertoire of over 200 recipes, Executive Chef Anthony Rozario and his culinary prepare our food with the highest quality ingredients blended with the originality that an Indian Chef could create, added with a touch of comfort that will remind you of a mother's cooked meal back home in India. We pride ourselves on providing a great dining experience in a casual enjoyable environment. We feature a lively and casual dining experience with fresh, handcrafted beers brewed on an innovative menu.Patang is a great place for lunch, dinner or drinks!!

Masala
Indian
39-26 61st St., Woodside, NY, 11377
|
|
Masala's owners, Kaiyum and Kabir have a long history of successful Indian restaurants in Western Queens. They opened their first in Sunnyside in 1992. In seven years they literally outgrew the space and moved to a larger place on Grand Avenue, where they continued their success for six more years. Now their crowning achievement is their new home on 61st Street in Woodside. Masala opened just two months ago, with a larger, more sophisticated dining room featuring rich, curry-colored walls with cinnamon wainscot above rustic, wooden plank floors. A sleek bar will soon offer all favorite beers, wines and cocktails, but for now, diners are welcome to bring their own bottle. The same expert chef whose cooking has made these restaurants so successful for the past 13 years still prevails in the kitchen. This reviewer happens to love Indian cuisine and I can honestly say that Masala offers some of the finest Northern and Southern Indian cuisine as well as a selection of delicious Indonesian dishes. Best of all, the prices are amazingly low and the service is excellent.
