The Mill Street Grille was formerly the staple of the elegant Walden Hotel, built in 1927. In the 1950s, the lower half was rented out to business tenants such as the Secretary of State and the basement housed the District Court holding cells that are still intact today. In 1958, Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. held meetings upstairs with other civil rights activists. A fire in the early 1970s destroyed the front half of the hotel, which faced Pike Street and is now the parking lot for those visiting the Mill Street Grille. With its rich red-colored walls and cherry wood, the bar pays tribute to the past while looking forward to a renewed life in booming downtown Pontiac. We can be your local neighborhood bar and grill and much more. The full-service menu offers a variety of appetizers, soups and salads, sandwiches, pastas, and ribs! Also serving Great Lunches at reasonable prices! The bar is stocked with many fine domestic and imported types of liquor, and an extensive beer list with over 30 choices including specialty beers like Motor City Nut Brown Ale. Great people, splendid food, generous drinks, and hot bands. It is a fun, spirited, clean-cut bar and grill with old music and new tunes. Something is always going on to keep you entertained, whether it is Monday Night Wing special, Karaoke Wednesdays & Fridays, or Live Music on the weekends. A great place to see Jazz, Blues, Rock and Techno Soul. Feel comfortable in a suit or jeans and a t-shirt. Get there early for a table, Mill Street packs them in! The Mill Street Staff loves to throw a party, and just like Free Press voted Mill Street is the Best Hidden Hangout for your next celebration!

Ted's Firehouse Pub & Grill

Ted's Firehouse PubTed's Firehouse Pub was almost Pete's Firehouse Pub when it opened in 1996, as it was opened as a tribute to Ted's grandfather: Chief Leo M. Pete Fox. Ted wanted to pay tribute to his grandfather and all of the firefighters who worked with Pete, and eventually for him. Pete fox started with Jackson Fire Department in 1925, and was with them for 42 years... first as a firefighter, and ultimately as Chief. Pete died as Chief in 1967. Ted really felt it should be named after his grandfather, but then again, he didn't want everyone in town calling him Pete!Full Circle!Ted began in the hospitality business in 1964 at the Hayes Hotel in Jackson. He moved to the Grand Rapids area in 1968 for a management position with Schensuls Cafeterias. He kept moving up, first to the Holiday Inn North and finally as manager of Benthams Riverfront Restaurant located in the Away Grand Plaza Hotel. Ted returned to Jackson in 1985 as the Assistant General Manager/Food & Beverage Director at the Holiday Inn. Ted has more than 35 years of catering experience... So, whether you have 15 or 300 hungry people to feed... Call Ted!What No Restaurant? When Ted was approached with the possibility of buying the old Back Door Bar. He said: "What... no restaurant? Although the idea appealed to him, he couldn't imagine a bar without a restaurant. He spent a lot of time and money to make sure that he had a "health-department approved" facility.Emergency Response! The pub has a live radio feed that makes Ted aware of any fire in the county as it happens. When a major structure fire occurs anywhere in the county. Ted responds with beverages, ice, food, whatever is needed to assist and support our firefighters!Memorabilia -Ted's has the single biggest collection of firefighter memorabilia in all of Southern Michigan look around... It's all here.
