I had moved up the management ladder and back down and back up again. I was growing weary of top management, those in the Ivory Tower, which I had disagreed with almost on a daily basis. This is where my daughter comes into the picture. She too wasn't satisfied with her current situation. She had been attending college and shortly after she went back yet another grueling semester in the fall of 1993, she showed up on our doorstep and declared she quit. So there we both were deciding which road we were going to take. One thing she was happy with was the pizza business she had gotten a taste of during her summers off from college. She thought, "Hey, why don't we do pizza?" I said, "Why not," and in April of 1994 we opened our first location.
The name was another story; we were trying to come up with the perfect name that fit our pizzeria. Nothing great was coming to mind until one day I was driving down the road and it hit me, "Sam and Louie's", what a great name, it was perfect. My father's name was Sam and my Wife's father's name was Louie, sounds like a couple of tough New York mobster's right? But actually, one was Czech and the other was Irish, both from rural Nebraska...it didn't matter what they were, it sounded great.

Sam & Louie's started out in Omaha, Nebraska in 1996 with one store and we sold our first franchise in 2000. We now have several locations and will continue to grow throughout Omaha, the rest of Nebraska, and across the country. Sam & Louie's is a casual, New York style pizzeria that is dedicated to providing a dining experience based on tradition, good service, family and fun.
New York style pizza started in the 1920's, and though our recipe has evolved, it is still the closest to the original. Most pizza restaurants these days produce their products via mass production-everything from the dough to the toppings comes in a bag and offers little to no variety. Every Sam & Louie's pizza is made with a thin crust that is hand-tossed and stretched to create the familiar size, shape and taste that New York pizzas are famous for. In addition, there are over 35 fresh and delicious toppings to choose from, and with vegetables and meat products as fresh and hearty as ours, it's not uncommon for our pizza eaters to agonize over what toppings they're going to choose.
Sam & Louie's not only serves original New York style pizza, but offers a variety of Italian cuisines as well. Unlike other pizza chains that are limited to just one specialty, we also prepare the best pastas, hoagies, strombolis, calzones and salads anywhere. Wash it down with an ice-cold soda, a frosty mug of beer, a margarita, or a glass of wine. Both young and old can come to Sam & Louie's for an afternoon or evening filled with excellent food and great memories.
