How do the French pull off that serene and beautiful thing? Sel et Poivre has the trick down. Pale-yellow walls, hung with black-and-white French streetscapes. Pureed red snapper and sea bass are blended with a tangy tomato broth to make a full-bodied soup. The accompanying plate of homemade croutons, rouille sauce and shreds of Swiss cheese came with polite instructions from the waiter: "Spread ze sauce on ze crouton, top with fromage, and float in ze soup like little boats." The mushroom-leek risotto is rich and dense and tasted of dry white wine; the sauteed skate au beurre noir is similarly flavorful and luxurious. The $27 prix-fixe includes three courses - no substitutions. That's okay, because the divine chocolate mousse is included

The Underground Caf is the result of the dream of Bulgarian Soccer Player Assen Tchongov who is the owner. He grew up in the restaurant business working for his father who presently owns five successful restaurants in Bulgaria. Mr. Tchongov knows that the delicious and healthy cuisine of his homeland will be enjoyed here in America.
Bulgaria is a small country in Eastern Europe rich in history, culture and natural beauty. Because of the location and history of Bulgaria the cuisine is equally as interesting. As is most European cooking, Bulgarian cuisine is based on fresh ingredients including lots of wonderful fruits and vegetables in season, grilled and slow-cooked meats, fresh seafood, nuts, farmstead cheeses and yogurt. Bulgarian yogurt is world famous as it is where it was first created.
The beautiful dcor is also a result of genuine Bulgarian artisan workmanship. The green glass tables, chairs, chipped stone bar and many of the actual serving pieces that you will see throughout the restaurant were actually imported from Bulgaria and meticulously fit into place in the present location. There was no expense spared to re-create a genuine Bulgarian feel in the restaurant.
The most important thing that Mr. Tchongov did to insure a perfect experience was to import his staff from Bulgaria. Chef Borisov and Chef Nachev have recently arrived from Bulgaria and are anxious to cook for you. They are a two man team that have had formal European training and have worked in some of the best kitchens in Europe. They have also run five star dining rooms in some of Bulgaria's most luxurious hotels. Together they have put together a menu that reflects some of the best and most fun food that Bulgaria has to offer along with other favorites from across Europe.

The heart and soul of pastaVino was given to us by the many immigrants who brought their culture to America from Italy. In the early nineteen hundreds, families who had settled in the five boroughs of New York City and elsewhere, created a new experience... the Italian-American experience. Early Sunday dinners gave birth to a slightly modified cuisine, shaped by necessity, availability and a hectic lifestyle.
This new cuisine, Italian-American cuisine, though not exactly the same as in Italy; was, and is, equally rich in taste and heritage. We'd like to share our experience with families from all over the world. At the same time we'd like to revisit memories close to the heart.
