XO Creperie
French
2027 Emmons Ave., New York, NY, 11235
Think of a crepe: something stuffed with fruit, maybe? A light, creamy topping, perhaps. Okay, now picture a crepe with Snails in a portabello, garlic, and butter sauce, or a crepe with broccoli, spinach, mushrooms and onions. Imagine a crepe with Chicken and broccoli, on Duck Confit. Sound intriguing? Different? Well, it is definitely French, and the theme of XO Creperie Restaurant and Terrace, Brooklyn's home of crepes and wine, for the truly French among you, or those who just aspire to be. There are crepes with Veal Stew, crepes with Pork and sweet corn, and crepes with Filet mignon. There are chocolate crepes, hazelnut butter crepes, and strawberry crepes. If you can imagine a crepe, XO probably has it. And that doesn't even touch the wine menu, with white, red and rose wines from Germany to Italy, and more. XO Creperie is a little bit of France in New York, waiting for you.

Sel et Poivre
Bistro, French
853 Lexington Ave, New York, NY, 10065
How do the French pull off that serene and beautiful thing? Sel et Poivre has the trick down. Pale-yellow walls, hung with black-and-white French streetscapes. Pureed red snapper and sea bass are blended with a tangy tomato broth to make a full-bodied soup. The accompanying plate of homemade croutons, rouille sauce and shreds of Swiss cheese came with polite instructions from the waiter: "Spread ze sauce on ze crouton, top with fromage, and float in ze soup like little boats." The mushroom-leek risotto is rich and dense and tasted of dry white wine; the sauteed skate au beurre noir is similarly flavorful and luxurious. The $27 prix-fixe includes three courses - no substitutions. That's okay, because the divine chocolate mousse is included

Co-owners Frederick Lesort and Antoine Bleck, opened OPIA in September 2001 bringing their special blend of downtown chic to midtown. With over thirty years of combined restaurant experience, Frederick and Antoine have made their mark in New York City with such successes as Frederick's Bar, The Lemon, Jour et Nuit and Orienta. OPIA's dramatic and expansive 4,000 square foot interior space is truly spectacular. Etienne Coffiner designed the second floor space, distinguished by 6 beautiful arched windows and 11 foot high ceilings. The space is separated into four distinct areas, each with a unique personality. The Main Lounge and Bar - casually elegant - is the most social area in the space. Just a few steps up from the bar is the Den, a semi-private section with low couches, padded walls and lush fabric, perfect for small dinner parties or cocktails for up to 15 guests.

Cercle Rouge
Bistro, French
241 West Broadway, New York, NY, 10013
Cercle Rouge, Georges Forgeois' most recent addition to his family of intriguing French bistros. Faithful to tradition, but also delivering the class and comfort New Yorkers have always demanded, Cercle Rouge offers classic bistro dishes in a gorgeously designed setting imbued with more than a touch of the real France. It is a truly authentic dining experience. Georges' personal touch and tireless devotion to all of his establishments has made veritable institutions of his previous ventures: Jules Bistro on St. Marks Place, the pioneering Cafe Noir in Soho, Le Singe Vert in Chelsea, and the ever-lively Bar Tabac on Smith Street in Carrol Gardens, Brooklyn. Like its sister restaurants, Cercle Rouge is making its mark in the neighborhood, pleasing locals and visitors alike in booming Tribeca. The charming and spacious outdoor terrace seats thirty. A pleasant outpost where diners and drinkers nestle amongst flower boxes and take in spectacular urban sunsets - with the cast-iron canyon of North Moore framing an uninterrupted view of the hills across the Hudson River, a lone New Jersey skyscraper yardsticking the falling of the sun.
