E.B. Elliot's
New American, Seafood
23 Woodcleft Ave., Freeport, NY, 11520
Any fisherman on the Nautical Mile can tell you that the ground E.B. Elliot's is built on was once home to the famous Poop Deck bar. Owned by Edna Beitterick, and her faithful bartender and caretaker Joe Elliot, the Poop Deck was a favorite haunt for local anglers to make merry and share fish stories. During its heyday, in the 50's and 60's, many celebrities frequented the Poop Deck before or after a day out on the best charter fishing boats around All berthed at Edna's dock. It was not uncommon to see personalities such as Yul Brenner, Pat Boone and Guy Lombardo, just to name a few, shouldered up to the bar alongside local captains and mates. For forty some odd years, the Poop Deck bar was the place to quench your thirst and exaggerate on the size of the fish caught that day. Somewhere along the way, a friendship was formed between Edna and two young mates by the names of Michael Danon and Michael Gross. As they got older the two Mikes would com to own and operate the Captain Lou Fleet sailing daily from the Poop Deck dock. One day, while out catching numerous (and enormous, as they will tell you) fluke, Mike and Mike spotted what looked like a small wooden raft afloat upon the waves. Upon closer inspections, they noted in their captain's log that the raft appeared to carry an Irish looking fellow sitting atop a keg of stout. Being generally friendly and always thirsty, they approached the raft and met Peter Clavin. Peter, it seemed, had sailed all the way from Ireland with the dreams of opening up a restaurant and a bar. After sharing in a few pints, the three men decided to become partners in this endeavor. E.B. Elliot's was born. In keeping with the traditions that Edna Beitterick and Joe Elliot set forth, Michael, Michael, and Peter opened E.B. Elliot's, a place to eat, drink and discuss the catch of the day.

The atmosphere at Sanibel recalls the fun of owner Patrick Kuhn's summers on Sanibel Island. He and partner Dennis Durdaller have created a destination restaurant that packs the joy of a vacation without getting on a plane. The L-shaped granite bar is the place to meet and make friends while enjoying a tropical Sanibel cosmo. Guests come early and stay late to soak up the friendly vibe and groove to live music on weekend nights. The dining room's cloth-covered tables and a fireplace offer a formal meal while wood top tables with striking red upholstered booths have a casual feel. The professional yet unpretentious service is a delight. Beach themed prints and oil paintings from Sanibel artists line the walls. The back room is perfect for private events and an outdoor patio expands the bar area in warm summer months. An elaborate, old-fashioned presentation of perfectly seasoned steak tartar includes accoutrements and an egg yolk nestled in its shell. The unique surf and turf chart offers six meats like filet mignon to mix and match with four seafood options, from traditional lobster tail to an outstanding Maryland crab cake. A 24 oz. bone-in cowboy ribeye fulfills steak house cravings; pair it with crispy fries and your choice of sauce. All the steaks are 21-28 day dry aged. Don't miss homemade Oreo creme brulee with crumbs of the famous cookie on the bottom. Order from the wine list including a selection of reserves or participate in their wine locker program. Fiddleheads American Fish House and Grill
American, Seafood
62 South Street, Oyster Bay, NY, 11771
Located in the heart of historic Oyster Bay, Fiddleheads has always been a mainstay of upscale seafood since it's opening in 1998. Entering its 10th year under the new ownership of Bernie DelBello, the colorful restaurant still stresses seafood but does so with an imaginative new American accent under Executive Chef David Glatzerman. Bernie, who has 28 years experience in the restaurant business (mostly as an owner previously of Newport Grill & Walk Street in Garden City) is a graduate of the prestigious Denver University of Hotel Restaurant Management, Denver CO. Together He and David are working to bring the highest quality dishes to the table. Everything is prepared in-house, including the desserts. Freshness and seasonality are stressed in the culinary creations as they are working to bring in locally grown produce and organic meat and fish. Non-seafood eaters fear not! The offerings include a grilled marinated flat iron steak, and a Hickory Crusted Loin of Pork to name a few. But it doesn't stop with the food. The extensive wine list has choices to fit all tastes without mortgaging the house both by the bottle and glass, featuring some hard to find, hand-picked wines with an emphasis on Long Island and California wines. If wine doesn't do it for you we have a list of tempting martinis like our famous Pomegranate or Tequilatini. All of this in a casual, unpretentious setting which hosts live music Thursday and Friday nights in the intimate "lounge" room. Please click here to see some of our musicians. The restaurant gets busy so make reservations ahead to avoid a long wait.

Port Royal Grille
Barbeque, Seafood
591 Main Street, Islip, NY, 11751
Established in 2009, by a couple of local, Islip guys. We pride ourselves on serving nothing but the freshest local seafood, the best slow smoked baby back ribs & pulled pork and the best wings anywhere. We think everything else on the menu is pretty awesome too. So climb aboard and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere with huge portions at reasonable prices that everybody can enjoy. We hope you enjoy your stay at Port Royal. 1. A pirate, especially one of the freebooters who preyed on Spanish shipping in the West Indies during the 17th century. 2. A ruthless adventurer. (French BOUCANIER from BOUCANER, to cure meat, from BOUCAN, barbecue frame) Word History - The Errol Flynn like figure of the Buccaneer pillaging the Spanish main may seem less dashing if we realize that the term Buccaneer corresponds to the word Barbecuer. The first recorded use of the French word Boucanier, which was borrowed into English, referred to a person on the islands of Hispaniola and Tortuga who hunted wild oxen and boars and smoked the meat in a barbecue frame known tin French as a Boucan. this French word came from a tupi word meaning "A rack used for roasting or for storing things or a racklike platform supporting a house." The original barbecuers seem to have subsequently adopted a more remunerative way of life, piracy, which accounts for the new meaning given to the word. Buccaneer is recorded first in 1661 in its earlier sense in English The sense we are familiar with is recorded in 1690. History of Port Royal, Jamaica Between 1655 and 1680, during reign of the Spanish empire the city of Port Royal Jamaica became a famous Buccaneer hideout. Due to it's excellent strategic position, many buccaneers used Port Royal as a main base for their operations. Soon, from a peaceful city, Port Royal transformed into a criminal next. There were hundreds of brothels and taverns.
