The Chophouse at Woodfield Manor's goal is be the best steakhouse restaurant in the Poconos. Along with a good steak comes good seafood: lobster, scallops and other sea treasures our Chef will prepare. What makes us really special though? Our exotic fare: wild boar, elk, ostrich. The chophouse has something for vacationers and locals alike.
The Woodfield Manor dates back before 1808. The Inn was an exclusive hunting club and stage stop for wealthy patrons from New York and New Jersey boasting a bathroom and wooden sink. In the 1920's, the Webb family purchased the property and turned the lodge into a vacationer's dream with a one-night stay costing between $12 and $25 dollars. New owners, the Toms, expanded the Inn into a resort in the 1950's. They added a swimming pool and tennis courts, which helped to build a thriving seasonal business where families would vacation for a week at a time. The Inn changed hands several times between 1978 and 1984 all the while losing its luster. In 1984, the Merli's took over and began to restore the Inn's original beauty until they sold the property to the Matthews in 1991. The Matthews felt the history of the Inn could blend with their own history and bring a taste of England to the Heart of the Poconos. They renamed the inn- The Britannia Country Inn. The twelve acre jewel was purchased and renamed by the current owners, John and Tina Dowd in November 2007 after an extensive renovation, which was initiated by the previous owners, Jerzy and Anna Olbry. The main Manor now houses an upscale steakhouse and six guest suites. In addition to the Manor suites, the property boasts 13 cottages on site. The cozy cottages each feature a gas fireplace.

In the early 1900's members of the Hazleton Country Club enjoyed a view similar to the one you see now from this very building, which served as their clubhouse. Golfers rode donkeys down the winding trail to the golf course. For them, of course, the trip back up to the top of the narrow dirt trail ended at a place known for good conversation, pleasure, and relaxation.Today's patrons follow very different trails to reach us here at the Top of the 80's Restaurant. The location at the crossroads of routes 81 and 80 makes Top of the 80's a perfect place to stop and enjoy the view while having a quiet lunch or dinner. As in the past, Top of the 80's is still a place for good conversation, pleasure and relaxation.The breathtaking view you see from the dining room is in many ways the same as it was those many years ago. Immediately below sits the expansive green of the golf course for what is now called the Valley Country Club. From there spreads the Conyngham Valley. In a distance, to the left, Sugarloaf Peak punctuates the skyline. In between are acres and acres of countryside, spreading some 4 miles to the horizon, where land meats the mountains. Scanning to the right, the viewer sees the patchwork of fields rolling off in a distance. One could consider the view alone a feast in itself.
