Harwood's Cottage cafe is housed in one of WA's more unique timber buildings. Originally the homestead for four generations of Harwoods, who lived there for just over a century, the vertical, split-timber slab building is one of the few structures of its type still standing in WA.
In summer patrons can sit beneath a 140-year-old fig tree that provides a shady umbrella over the timber decking which overlooks wetlands that are a busy bird habitat in winter. In the colder months log fires give the cottage a warm and cosy eating environment.
