THE JAILHOUSE GRILL
The Jailhouse Grill is continuing a 130 year tradition by offering fine food and beverage to locals and travelers alike. The building was built in the mid 1800’s using handmade convict bricks from the local “brickfields†some 500 meters away and is typical of a Victorian Georgian Inn or Public House of the era. Registered with the Tasmanian Heritage Council, it is regarded as important to the community’s sense of place. Originally named the Prince of Wales, Launcestonians will be more familiar with the names, the Richmond Hotel, Barnaby’s Hotel and the Ball and Chain Grill. In continuing the tradition of the previous Inn Keepers and Publicans, the Management and Staff extend a warm welcome to you and hope that the meal, service and ambience combine for a pleasant experience.

Black Cow Bistro
Modern Australian, Steak house
Cnr George & Paterson Sts Launceston, TAS Australia, 7250
|
|
Welcome to the Black Cow Bistro, a new development from the Stillwater team located in the historic Art Deco Luck's Butchery shop in Launceston, Tasmania, specialising in free range, grass fed, dry aged premium Tasmanian Beef.
Dishes are designed around fresh, local produce and served in a warm, casual Bistro-style atmosphere with well priced Tasmanian wines and some full-bodied reds thrown in for good measure.
Historically the cow has been important to many cultures. It has been seen and worshiped as a symbol of contentedness, fecundity, the passive yet creative and generative powers of natures, patience, nourishment, abundance, fertility and equifinality. It is also, of course, an excellent source of protein.
The Black Cow logo has been inspired by the amazing ancient artworks in the Lascaux Caves in France, which carbon dating indicates are more than 17,000 years old.
