Buenos Aires Cafe
Argentinean
2414 South 1st Street, Austin, TX, 78704
Austin Fueled by popular demand, Buenos Aires Caf-Austin's first Argentine eatery-has opened a second location, on the city's east side. Spacious and inviting (have original hardwood floors ever looked so good?), the haunt serves up popular Argentine fare, including authentic Buenos Aires empanadas. The flaky pastries come with various fillings, including a don't-miss carne picante, with scallions, raisins, and green olives, and a vegetarian's dream packed with spinach, ricotta, and Parmesan. Entres can be spotty; steer clear of the bland gnocchi and head straight for the pastel de papas, Argentina's answer to Britain's shepherd's pie. Finish with a scrumptious dessert-cuatro leches cake, panqueques (dessert crepes), or flan de Buenos Aires

Piranha Killer Sushi
Sushi
207 San Jacinto Blvd., Austin, TX, 78701
Piranha Killer Sushi took its first bite in Arlington, Texas back in 2001 as owners Kenzo and Tommy saw a void in the city and a great opportunity to show off their talents. By starting Pirahna Killer Sushi, they wanted to give diners the chance to experience sushi with a vibrant twist. Piranha Killer Sushi's menu has been the rave ever since the restaurant opened in 2001. The Bohemian Conch Salad and the Forget About It Roll have a different kick than any other sushi restaurant! The picture-perfect presentation of a Dragon Roll with strips of salmon and avocado floating on top with an asparagus tail, plated diagonally, is almost too pretty to eat. Piranha's also pampers the palate of the non-sushi eater with servings of hot Salmon Thai Curry, Korean Grilled Steak and other delectable items. Guests are greeted with a display of a beautiful traditional Japanese kimono. As soon as your hostess begins guiding you to your seat, you will enter a new world. The hostesses always have a comforting smile and the servers are all in a joyful mood. The restaurant is coated with tropical shades of orange, green and red and oriental theme is brought to life with a Floridian flare. It's almost as if, there should be palm trees inside!

Saba Blue Water Cafe
Caribbean, Seafood
208 West 4th Street, Austin, TX, 78701
Saba Blue Water Cafe, which was launched in Austin's Warehouse District by partners Chuck Smith and executive chef Larry Perdido around the idea of small plates to share, has moved beyond the appetizer-style fare. That is the result of an expansion into Houston, where the second Saba Blue Water Cafe has become a popular spot in a revitalized area downtown near the theater district. In Houston, Perdido and Smith wanted to give diners a full-meal option, which meant discernible entrees on the menu. The result was a hit, and they have brought the concept to Austin, where the kitchen is somewhat limited by its small size. Still, there was no compromise in the quality and presentation of the entrees handled locally by chef and kitchen manager Matt Krieg. Selected from the six main-course items that included paella, a smoked pork chop, salmon and beef tenderloin, the mahi mahi ($17) was served with a lemongrass cream sauce and grilled bananas. The seasoned fish, atop a mound of grilled pineapple-cilantro rice, was flaky tender. The bananas, coated in an Asian barbecue sauce, were dark, soft and tasty. The pepita-crusted chicken ($14) was paired with a goat cheese bread pudding that had the appearance and consistency of dressing. The moist, flavorful chicken with a crisp coating from the ground pumpkin seeds was served with a Hatch green chile cream sauce that gave it a mild zing. Visit our site for more on this story or other press releases. Thanks & come see us soon!!

Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant
Mexican, Tex Mex
301 San Jacinto, Austin, TX, 78701
At the Rio, we offer a unique blend of Mexican food and Tex-Mex. All of the dishes served at the Rio are inspired by our owner's travels through the Yucatan Peninsula and from his experience growing up in the state of Texas. Backed by knowledge of great food, our menu emerged with pieces of Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisines from an array of different regions. We have outstanding traditional dishes like Enchiladas de Queso and Tacos al Carbon. We also offer non-traditional Tex-Mex if that's your bag. Mahi Tacos with fresh Mango Salsa will make you feel as if you've transported yourself to the beaches of Cabo. At the Rio we believe in living a healthy, happy life and let's face it, we all want to be a little healthier these days. Our non-traditional menu offers an array of healthier Tex-Mex and non-traditional Tex-Mex options. Beautiful ripe avos, vine ripe tomatoes, mixed greens, and homemade dressings will rock your healthy world. Our rice and beans, made fresh every day, are free of lard so they are low in fat, even vegetarian. Our Mesquite wood-burning grill adds a truely Texan touch to all of our signature dishes. That's the most important part about eating at the Rio; we allow you to enjoy the rich flavors of each ingredient in your favorite Rio dish. We won't mask the flavor with anything else. What you see, is what you taste.
