Ashoka was a descendant of the great Mauryas, who ruled India in the second and third century B.C. His regime extended from 273 to 232 B.C. He diverted all of his energy to bringing peace and happiness by spreading the word of Buddha; after that he was known as Dharam-Ashoka.
The imperial policy was expressed and inscribed on pillars which were known as Seven Pillar Edicts. The Ashoka Pillar at Sarnath reminds us even today of his greatness. The three lions that adorn it, the "Dharma Chakra" has been adopted by the Indian government as the device of its national seal.
Over the years, Ashoka The Great Cuisine of India has been reviewed by various critics and we have always satisfied every one of them. Our goal at Ashoka The Great is not only to serve the best Indian food, but also to serve it with a smile and have the best possible service.
Tandoor is cylindrical clay oven native to India. This oven is of ancient origin and can be retraced back several thousand years. The Tandoor comes in a variety of sizes.
The Tandoor is fully buried in sand for insulation. Charcoal is used in the Tandoor. A temperature of 800 degrees is maintained inside the Tandoor.
Every Indian bread served here is baked in the upper section of the Tandoor. This is done skillfully by slapping the dough against the oven's instantly hot, curved walls. The meats are pre-treated with yogurt and a special blend of spices for a period of 24 hours. Then they are cooked in their own juices over a bed of hot charcoal inside the oven.

The spacious dining room can accommodate 200 guests and the interior dcor blends in with the Indian paintings on the wall. The two chefs in charge of the cooking are mastered by Chefs Sucha Singh and Ranjit Singh Bains. Both of them bring long years of culinary experience on Northern Indian specialty dishes. The menu consists of several mouth watering dishes which include amongst other items to name a few Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Malai, Lamb Seekh Kabab, Shrimp Karahi, Malai Kofta, Bhindi Masala, Nav Rattan Korma, Fish Masala, Shahi Paneer, Dal Makhani, Mushroom Masala and Fresh fruits , desserts and many more tantalizing dishes. These go well with side orders of rice and Naan (plain or garlic).
The restaurant provides an excellent Lunch Buffet which includes Soda and Ice cream unlike other Indian restaurants for only $8.99 per person which is served daily Mon-Fri from 11:00 am-3:00pm and on weekends Sat- Sun it is served till 3:30pm . The buffet has an excellent selection of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian items. In the evening dinner is served from 5:00pm - 10 pm on weekdays and on weekends Sat-Sun, dinner is served till 10:30pm. Where one enjoy a "la carte" fine dining experience served from the menu.
