We all must patronize Fritanga, a family-owned and operated Nicaraguan restaurant on Versailles Road. Granted, its business model is casual - I have been there when they have run out of Dos Equis and shrimp, and service can run from stellar to lackluster - but its virtues outweigh these inconveniences, plus it is the only Nicaraguan restaurant in the state ... and Nicaraguan food can be delicious.
To start with, you will taste the best salsas in town. There is a standard quartet consisting of chilero, a sweet-hot carrot, tomato and onion vinaigrette; a pea-green jalapeno-cilantro paste; a fiery hot red chili dip; and chimichurri, Latin America's famed parsley and garlic condiment.
With an atmosphere as bright as a sunny Central American country and an authentically Nicaraguan menu, this is, as I say, a place everyone should try at least once. Then you'll be hooked.

Owner Leonardo Capezzuto opened Casanova Restaurant in February of 2011, with a vision of creating Lexington's finest Italian dining experience. Leonardo is well known to the community of Lexington being the owner of Leonardo's Cafe', an already renowned downtown restaurant.
Leonardo was born in Naples, Italy, raised in a classic Italian, large family made of 11 siblings, where he grew up eating only authentic and fresh food straight from his mother's kitchen. Growing up, Leonardo was always the most excited when it came dinner-time, but, most importantly, the most excited to learn how to cook. Soon after high school, Leonardo was already in charge of managing three Coffee Shop, which belonged to the family, in the time spent managing the Coffee Shops, Leonardo quickly learned how to connect with customers and how to make them feel at home. He also started his culinary career by creating his own special paninis and side dishes, with great success. Leonardo moved to Lexington, Kentucky in 1998, along with only part of his large family, but also along with his mother, Angela, the person that taught Leonardo how to cook and how to come up with his delicious and authentic dishes. Leonardo's brother, Giovanni Capezzuto, former chef at Bella Notte and current owner of the company, Sapore D'Italia.
Now Leonardo lives here permanently, with 4 of his sisters and 1 of his brothers, with the remainder of the family still living in Naples, Italy, whom they often come to visit. He still maintains the family tradition by cooking fresh dishes, just like Angela taught him. Casanova Italian Restaurant is committed to serving only the finest foods, made with the freshest ingredients. All of our dishes are made from scratch. Our inviting decor and professional servers create a memorable Italian dining experience.

The Blues is the music born of the oppressions suffered by African American workers in the deep South in the late 1800's and early 1900's. It grew from spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts and chants and blossomed to create jazz, rhythm and blues, and rock and roll. In 1927 in Bristol, Tennessee it influenced Leslie Riddle and modern country music was born. Closer to home here, it mingled with Bluegrass, crossing from the river to the hills. It's seemingly simple chord progressions struck a nerve in the collective American conscience and has influenced the shape of our nation. It's influence was spread by the railroad and the railroad's influence can be heard in the rhythms and the beat of the blues songs as the hardship of the great depression drove its spread from the South in search of opportunity.
It traveled up from the Mississippi Delta to Memphis, St. Louis and Chicago. It spread East to New York and West to Texas. It mixed and mingled with the other cultural influences shaping every genre of music imaginable.
