Hello, new to group. Widely read and travelled, American living in Taipei. I think the idea put forth by BW 39 is a great one - we select a book, re (or re-read it) then discuss.

Whatyou wrote makes sense. Also in light of the fact that the Second World War,The Forgotten War and Vietnam occurred in a short fifteen year span of time with changes happening simultaneously in Korea, China, Vietnam, Russia:

It might have something to do with the fact that Korea was before television completed its invasion into the everday lives of the entire US: everyone knew what was happeining in Vietnam nightly, in living color, thereby making it impossible to forget

I am trying to figure out why a war in which more american personel were killed than in vietnam(I won't listen to the "ME"GENERATION ARGUMENT!)is the Forgotten War...Thus far it looks like racism has a big part of it...Ladies, Gents, any thoughts?

Don't give up on this one; it's so romantic. Rent one of the films if you have to, especially the one with Olivier.

Does anyone know if the Book Club of Ireland is still in action, they used to be a mail book purchase club. They were fantastic, but havent heard a word from them in years. Guess its cheaper to just buy or use the library. Cheers , and keep reading.

Dan Brown's books are very bad written, i had difficulties reading them myself. Reading 'our posthuman future' at the moment, by Fukuyama (sp?) > brilliant read
