Jane Austin is great if you haven't read her yet... I pretty much recommend everything. Pride and Prejudice being my personal favorite.

Hi - I just read The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Elizabeth Howe. It's set in modern day Massachusetts and 1690's Salem as a researcher uncovers the truth about a real witch who was accused at the time of the witchtrials. It has a little romance interwoven and a lot of real history. I'd recommend it.

I don't know about vimpires. But Sherrilyn Kenyon is the author of the Dark Hunter series. And in the books are creatures that have vimpire characteristics. Maybe you should check her out. She is by far by favorite author.
