Starting a group to discuss "The Shock Doctrine" by Naomi Klein

"The Shock Doctrine" by Naomi Klein is, in my estimation, one of the most important books to read for any thinking person on this planet! The sub-title, "The story of the rise of disaster capitalism" describes what it is about: how various interest groups, (primarily Milton Friedman and his Economics department at the U. of Chicago), have taken over most of the economies of this planet by promoting the use of shock, (whether by natural catastrophes, military coupes, or un-tamed inflation, etc.), to instigate overnight changes to "free-market" economies that help the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. I hope to have seven 1-hour discussion sessions (2-month?) at a location in the Aiea area. We will begin when I have 5 people interested. Mike: ***
