Sometimes I wish that I could just keep walking and never have to re-engage with the rat race again.

Why don't you just do it SingleLady, Seattle, very good country to the east of you, lose yourself for a while, society is built on hypocrisy and pretence, you don't need it, there is nothing to lose

Anyone interested in survivalism, I've just returned from a 7 weeks stint living totally wild in the mountains of NW Scotland.

right? I used to follow the survival school in Bogor Indonesia, for 7 days. I really enjoyed it, make bivoack to sleep, eat what I encountered in the forest and not harmful, and make a noose. What was it like actually living in the wild? what equipment do you carry? thats amazing for me...

Hello to Jakarta, equipment should be kept to a minimum, fishing line 50m-hooks size12-14 for freshwater, size 0 00 200 for saltwater, the basic utility knife, wire snares, anything else can be improvised from wood, fishing lures from feathers etc. Personal equipment consists of 65litre rucksack, ultralite tent, isotex bivvy bag, sleeping bag (ultralite-AT fibre), three complete outfits, 1 wesr 2 wash 3 reserve. Emegency equipment, matches, salt, potassium permanganate, 100ml spirit alcohol. All other things can be improvised. Food emergency cache, 10kg rice, 5x400g Digestive biscuits, 2kg soya protein powder, 2litre vegetable oil. This should be sufficient for 8weeks survival. All other food should be taken from the land, fish-set deadlines, float otterboards. Snare rabbits in an emergency. The staple food is reedmace, strip the outer green layer down to the white, dry and render the pith and you are left with good starchy matter, not unlike semolina or sago. Food is purely fuel, do not worry about flavour. Scurvygrass (type of wild cabbage) provides more vit.C than oranges, use it. All seaweeds can be eaten, they provide high mineral content and some vitamins. Fresh mountain streams which you are drinking make up any shortfall. Time is your greatest enemy when you are alone in wilderness, opportunities must never be passed by.
