Sing High's Chinese food began pleasing Phoenicians over 80 years ago and continues to be family owned and operated. Harlan Lee, grandson of the founder explains the restaurant's name as a happy accident. His grandfather wanted to name his restaurant "Shanghigh". However, he had a very heavy accent, and since he was unable to read English, he never knew that what the sign painter came up with was "Sing High".
For over eighty years Sing High has built its business on hard work and good food. that philosophy continues today. To ensure quality and freshness, most menu items are cooked from "Scratch" only after you order it. "At Sing High you are the most important to us." Sing High sits in the heart of what used to be the city's Chinatown in the early part of the 20th Century. Tacos are a universal favorite. Jeff Ward, owner of <b>Fuego Bistro</b> located in the Central corridor, has created a casual version of his other location in the Esplanade, featuring 16 different kinds of tacos using the "same ingredients and DNA of Fuego Bistro." Tacos here are listed as either "Purist" or "Nuevo," serving up a little something for the steadfast and the curious alike.
A couple for the Purists: Chicken "street-style" tacos with natural chicken breast, pico de gallo, fresh cilantro, lime and tomatillo sauce; or braised Pork shoulder with charred poblano salsa, tomatillo aioli, and cojita cheese. And a couple for The Nuevos-Duck confit tacos with blood orange salsa, port chile reduction w/ charred peppers & onions; and the Spicy Vegetarian, with poblano and Anaheim chiles, charred bell pepper salsa, chipotle aioli and an Oaxacan cheese blend. You will have to come in to see and try all the rest!
