Le Chateau Restaurant
AmericanFrench, http://www.restaurant.com/microsite.asp?rid=394846, American, French
1410 Route 35, South Salem, NY, 10590 US
Present & Past High on a hillside in South Salem, New York, Le Chateau was the former home of the Reverend William S. Rainsford, built for him by his Warden, J.P. Morgan in 1907. The tudor-style manor was designed by the prominent architectural firm of Atterbury & Atterbury, progenitors of the Modern Movement, and named Savin Rock. After the Rainsford reign, Colonel Fredrick Sansome, former owner of Conyers Farm in Greenwich, often entertained White House dignitaries at Savin Rock. In 1971, Mr. & Mrs. Yves Lozach of the Brittany region of France were shown Savin Rock. The property needed extensive renovation to become a restaurant, but with Madame Lozach's persistence, Le Chateau opened in 1973 and has been a dining and event destination ever since. Today, Le Chateau is the ideal balance of historical significance and classic style. Expertly crafted, every detail is in harmony with the traditional English plan, especially the series of generously proportioned windows which provide expansive views of magnificent sunsets over the Hudson Valley. The natural brick and stone exterior, richly colored interior of paneled chestnut, cherry and oak, hand-hewn woodwork, chestnut beams, grand staircases and cozy stone fireplaces offer the finest settings. The small, intimate dining rooms and grand banquet rooms provide elegance while terraces, formal gardens and lush rolling lawns surround the magnificent manor to become outdoor fun. Then and now, it is a place for history and memories to be made.

The Horse & Hound Inn
American, http://www.restaurant.com/microsite.asp?rid=367019, American
94 Spring St., South Salem, NY, 10590 US
The origin of the Horse & Hound Inn long predates the American Revolutionary War. While 1749 provides the earliest known record of the house as an inn, it was built as a homestead prior to this date. It served as a mason schoolhouse, a gin and rum mill, and also a stage coach stop on the Old Post Road from New York City to Danbury. The adjoining building served as a blacksmith shop for servicing guests horses and travelers along the Post Road. Since early times, the quiet charm of South Salem has changed little. As a landmark in the community, the Inn retains it's peaceful atmosphere. In keeping with tradition, your hosts Susan and Silvano Vales have tried to maintain the Inn's natural beauty. We hope you will enjoy your visit with us. Thank You.

8 Main St, Georgetown, CT, 06829 US

The Village of Georgetown has always existed outside the law. It is not a town but the junction where Redding, Weston, Wilton and Ridgefield meet. Since 1978, the Georgetown Saloon has been the gathering place for great food, great music and great times. Passing through the well-worn swinging doors seven days a week are builders, bikers, soccer moms with kids, young lovers, retirees and all the regulars who meet daily around the bar to share their lives and stories The building itself has stood for more than 100 years on Main Street part of the historic Danbury-Norwalk Turnpike and one of the earliest north-south routes in Fairfield County. In the 1950's Benny Allegrezza managed the site. In Benny's restaurant the bar was on the left and the dining room was on the right. Next door Benny's daughter ran Claudia's Sweet Shop with an old fashioned soda fountain. In the early 1970's when Delucas owned it, a bar was constructed on the right side and the left became a dining room, as it remains today. Adam Lubarsky established the Georgetown Saloon in 1978. He created the Wild West flavor which helped it to develop its own folklore over the years. Since 2004 Nancy Silverman has been the owner, carrying on the tradition of providing a comfortable place to dine, to dance and to mingle. And today, under her guidance, the Georgetown Saloon is also known for its music, earning a Best of the Gold Coast Award in 2006-2010. The Georgetown Saloon is also proud to announce that we received five awards in the Fairfield Weekly Best of 2010. First Place: Best Server Jessica Auerbach, Best Bartender Sheri Sorrentino and Best Bloody Mary Second Place: Best Happy Hour, Neighborhood Bar, Place for Karaoke and Restaurant with Live Music Third Place: Beer Selection in Bar, Bar for Pub Games and American Restaurant.

Cadiz tapas restaurant
SpanishTapas, http://www.restaurant.com/microsite.asp?rid=432107, Spanish, Tapas
269 Greenwood Ave, Bethel, CT, 06801 US
Tapas is the name of a wide variety of appetizers or small dishes. They have evolved into an entire cuisine. Patrons of tapas restaurants can order many different tapas and combine them to make a full meal. The serving of tapas is designed to encourage conversation because people are not so focused upon eating an entire meal that is set before them. There are several stories about the origin of tapas, which are a part of the folklore:One story claims that while on a long trip, King Alfonso had stopped to rest in the town of Ventorillo del Chato in the province of Cádiz, and he ordered a glass of jerez or sherry. There was a gusty wind, so the inn keeper served him his glass of sherry covered by a slice of ham to prevent the sherry from getting dirty. King Alfonso apparently liked it, and when he asked for a second glass, he requested another tapa or "cover" just like the first.Whatever the true origin of tapas, prepare one or several, then enjoy them like the Spanish do - with a glass of wine and a relaxed attitude.
