Black Duck Cafe

The Building that houses the Black Duck Caf was once a sea-going refrigeration and ice storage barge that was built around 1840, It also carried food and other supplies along the East and Gulf coasts and may have even made it up the Mississippi River as far as St. Louis.Barges such as this were loaded with ice, a valuable commodity in the 1800s, in Portland. Boston. Gloucester and other northern New England ports in the spring, Traveling up and down the Atlantic coast, they exchanged cargoes along the way.This particular barge was refurbished in the early 1900s and has been anchored in Westport since 1961. Its 90-foot hull rests atop a 100-foot barge that sank here many years ago when the Saugatuck River was much deeper. The small penthouse on the top deck, now the office for the restaurant was the barge master's living quarters. A patch in the roof covers the hole opened for the chimney of his pot-belly stove.During its 40 years in Westport. The barge has been home to many business: among the earliest were a bait shop and a dress store. Three other restaurants preceded the Black Duck on the site. Probably the most notable being Davy Jones Locker, which operated from 1973-77. Named after a legendary rum-running boat, the Black Duck Caf was opened in 1978 and has been going strong ever since.

The restaurant is at the corner of the Post Road (Rt. 1) and Riverside Avenue, also called Wilton Road and Rt. 33, and offers diners not only extraordinary cuisine, but also provides valet parking, and as the weather turns to spring and summer, will open its famed outdoor patio that overlooks the Saugatuck River.
Napoli sul Fiume provides fine Northern Italian cuisine in a cozy interior that reminds diners of a lovely restaurant in Europe. New tables, furnishings, flooring, daily floral arrangements, and art provided by the Westport River Gallery, all add to the experience.
The menu features homemade pastas, fresh fish, innovative meat dishes that include veal scaloppini topped with crabmeat, asparagus and Fontina cheese in a Cognac sauce, rack of lamb with a green peppercorn and Cognac sauce, and Chateaubriand. Chef Segundo Uzcha, formerly with Il Mulino and Bellucci restaurants in Manhattan, creates daily specials, including two fish entrees, three appetizers and a pasta dish in addition to the restaurant's extensive offerings.

Costa Brava is the beginning of a dream, like many of those lived by thousands of people who emigrate to the U.S. in search of great challenges & Opportunities what started out as a dream among three brothers the came from the beautiful South America country "Ecuador" is now a reality forged out of the effort and concentrate on this grandiose project Raul Rodriguez. Was the first one to give in way to his imagination, and come to this country of opportunities to explore this country That would generate a good life. The dream of a great business, when he arrived, approximately 22 years ago, he began to explore the great restaurants in New York to learn the great different types of food that this country offers. He decided to go to Europe to know more about the culinary world working with the great Italian chefs and why not say it even with the European royalty from whom he adapted great skills to become what is now one of the best Mediterranean cuisines in Fairfield country. While in Europe, his oldest brother, Marcelo Rodriguez, decides to begin his journey to foreign land for a new experience and ends up dragging along their youngest brother, Fabian Rodriguez, together upon Raul return from Europe, they begin their project approx in 1997.
Despite the many inconvenience they settled in CT began the search for the perfect spot to start their new business they were very hands on & took care of all the details regarding the decoration the walls were painted by one of their Colombian friends, who also lent a helping hand along with many others to form the first work force "Costa Brava" & transform a hardware store into an enchanting place in a shopping plaza in Norwalk. It has now become a warm pleasant welcoming spot. For many to share & great moments with friends and family.

Meigas, (Galician for sorceresses), located in Norwalk, CT, is the former, highly acclaimed Meson Galicia restaurant where it first set the tone for offering the highest quality, most authentic Spanish cuisine over 12 years ago. The reinvention of Meson Galicia into Meigas is simply the product of taking the opportunity to re-introduce themselves and the foods of Spain to the consumer. The name was taken from Meigas in Manhattan, the downtown restaurant that Bollo created in 1999, which received rave reviews and was all too soon put to bed after the 9/11 tragedy.
In Spain, the favorite subject is food. While we are enjoying our lunch we are planning our next meal, and before bed we plan our next meal almost savoring the next day meal. In our restaurant, Meigas, we try to share this passion for food to our customers.
Meigas is a very special Spanish restaurant, where the traditional and the modern fuse in a coherent way. While traditional flavors are kept, we use new techniques, reflecting the new culinary revolution and, where flavors and aromas play, a very important role in the creation of our dishes.
