Hitching Post II

406 E. Highway Buellton, CA United States, 93427

Here, on the Central Coast of California, BBQ has always meant grilling over an open fire of red oak, a style of cooking that is native to our area and goes back to the days of the Spanish Rancheros. By combining the old and the new, we have created an exciting cuisine that is uniquely our own. Along with our outstanding steaks, ribs and chicken, we also serve items such as smoked duck breast, ostrich, home-made soups and outstanding pastries; along with what the Los Angeles Times has called the "best" French Fries in Southern California! We are also one of a very few restaurants creating our own (world class) wines for sale in the restaurant and to the public. Hartley Ostini Hitching Post Wines have garnered an excellent reputation. Try them here or at home.

Brothers Restaurant at Mattei's Tavern

2350 Railway Avenue Santa Barbara, CA United States, 93441

Mattei's tavern is a glimpse into the past and a reminder of the pioneering spirit and hospitality of the old west. Velvet wallpaper, old family photographs and crackling fires in the various fireplaces are complemented and contrasted by the innovative wine country cuisine of brothers Matt and Jeff Nichols. Restored to stagecoach day glory and surrounded by plush gardens and lawns, Mattei's continues to be a much beloved local landmark that was, and is, know as a place for family and friends to gather and enjoy a great meal. The brilliant white wooden building sits majestically on sprawling lawns and gardens, on the edge of the small town of Los Olivos. Inside the tavern can only be described as welcoming, lit fireplaces, cozy dining rooms and enticing aromas from the open kitchen. Brothers Restaurant is the proud caretaker of Mattei's Tavern. We want the restaurant to continue to reflect the welcoming spirit of the stagecoach days, when it all started from its construction in 1886.

Enterprise Fish Co. - Santa Barbara

225 State Street Santa Barbara, CA United States, 93101

Built in 1917, the historic building now home to our Santa Monica restaurant was once a transfer station for the narrow-gauge Red Car line, Los Angeles' first mass transit system. It was later the repair house for the world-famous Pacific Ocean Park, home to the oldest wooden roller coaster west of the Mississippi. These days, we're still a stone's throw from Venice Beach, heart of where L.A. goes to play -- and eat. Also just a few blocks from the waterfront, our sister restaurant in Santa Barbara operates in a century-old brick building originally home to an industrial linen service for seaside hotels. While the Douglas fir floors, soaring ceilings, and glassed cupola have always been features of this historic structure, the sweeping arches facing State Street were added after much of the building crumbled during the 1925 Santa Barbara earthquake.
